Abstract
A mediator-type screen-printed L-lactate sensor was devised and its basic electrochemical properties were evaluated. Lactate oxidase was chemically modified with ferrocene carboxylic acid by a carbodiimide coupling procedure. Owing to salts in the dialysis buffer, Fc-LOD was produced 10-fold greater than the amount of LOD used for modification. Ferrocene binding to the enzyme was confirmed by an inductively coupled plasma analysis. The modified enzyme was printed onto the gold working electrodes, deposited on the copper foil patterned onto a polyimide flexible film. When analyzed by cyclic voltammetry, the sensor showed characteristic pattern of electron transfer mediated by ferrocene molecules. The calibration curves measured at 250 and 400 mV at varying concentration of L-lactic acid (~400§·/§£) were found to be sigmoidal.
